I have been a beader for over 20 years and micromacrame has been a part of that for about 8 years. I knew that I would probably be familiar with all the techniques in this book. That being said, for someone looking to expand their knowledge of more ornate pieces, this book will be nice for you. You need to know the formation of knots through projects unless you want to flip to the front for everything. The projects are gorgeous although there are not many at a very advanced level. I also am surprised that gluing a cabochon is the instruction in this book for those projects using a cab rather than wrapping or beading a bezel. I would put this book at a 2nd stage level so for those adventurous beginners or someone who isn't able to make their own patterns.

I just got this book today and have looked through it carefully, and while I have yet to take anything on, I am impressed with the clear and detailed instructions for each project as well as the basics section re: materials and knots at the beginning. I don't think I could have asked for a better book to reference in giving my first try at macrame.Some of the projects look really daunting at first glance, the each part is detailed very well and there are tons of photos. Everything is well illustrated in this book and it gives me the confidence to dive in (maybe tonight?) and start a project.A few of the designs I found to be a little blah, but overall they are beautiful and intricately designed.

I ordered this site unseen and was pleasantly surprised. I was anxious to start learning so I looked everywhere for the cords she recommended and couldn't find them in the local stores, so I placed and order online. In the mean time I bought some waxed linen to practice on and I really had trouble with the harder knot, the double half hitch. I couldn't seem to get it right. I was discouraged because I usually succeed at these type of things. When I finally recieved the tuff cord that she recommended, the trouble was over. I was able to make an intermediate bracelet right off the bat. Now I am in the middle of the necklace that features the double half hitch knot. You really should order online the tuff cord nylon cording when you order the book. The projects turned out beautiful. The instructions were very easy to understand and the jewelry that she designs is beautiful. The only drawback is it can be intensive on your back when you sit and knot for a while.

Great projects, beautifully photographed, and up-to-the-minute reference. I've already used the information to buy materials, and made 2 of the projects. Useful, informative, helpful! Easy to read.

This book is well written. The illustrations are clear.However, for my needs I would prefer more necklaces and less bracelets.I think professionals forget that novices need help with the flat curve of a necklace. Whereas a bracelet is so much easier to accommodate. It is one straight shot.To the author : Give more assistance with micro-macrame necklaces.I would recommend this book to other crafters.

The book is very nice but the book uses a smaller size of macrame cord than what I do. I may be able to adapt the patterns to help me. I don't know yet. Thank you verymuch fo the book. If there is another one available for us to use 2mm twine it would be very helpful to me. The book is very nice.

Overall I was somewhat disappointed with this book, although it does have some good illustrations of the basic techniques, and several projects that I like the look of. The dark monochromatic colors in many projects detract from it's ability as a teaching aid, even if they are appropriate for Victorian-inspired designs.The photography is excellent, clearly illustrating the sample pieces. My primary disappointment is that nearly all of the projects use a single color of thread. Of thirty projects, only two use more than one thread color for the main part of the macrame. For a novice to this art, it would have been extremely helpful to have more samples showing what it looks like if you use more than one color, and explaining how to go about swapping colors while knotting. Multiple colors in the examples would also help to illustrate which cord is being knotted, better showing the structure of the pattern. Many of the projects use black or other dark colored thread and beads, making it hard to see the details of the knots. That's fine as a design decision, but not so good when trying to illustrate a technique.This book is a good introduction to the art of micro-macrame. Included are a fairly comprehensive discussion of thread and bead types, and instructions on how to make a padded clipboard to support your work. The variety of projects is okay, but includes a lot of unusual findings or found elements that would be hard to locate, such as very distinctive watch faces, or a long pressed glass bead that is used for the body of a butterfly design. Without these components, the project needs to be adapted, and there are no recommendations for substitutes. There are three different watch bands, and a bracelet that uses a rectangular component with bars on the sides like a watch face. I would have preferred one or two of those based on different types or shapes of central focus beads or components and not just watches. I also wish there were more attention paid to finishing on some of the projects. There are no photos of the backs of any of the pieces. The pins say to "glue a pin back to the back".So while this book will certainly teach you the basics, I believe it could have included different designs that would have more clearly illustrated the techniques. The huge color palette is what draws many of us to the fiber arts, and I feel that this book does not do full justice to the possibilities inherent in color, both as a design element and as a teaching aid.

This book has a bunch of great projects, but what I found most useful were the well-written instructions and tons of pictures.

It covers all of the physiology behind each learning objective and includes nursing considerations. It explains the rational for each type of monitoring and different types of catheters. Especially great if you're a visual learner like me. Even if you aren't visual learning helps you retain more and understand material much better. This book contains so many great pictures after each learning section such as how to zero the line transducer and what the different lines look like and how to use them. I highly recommend this book. It's concise to the point but doesn't leave anything out. I am an RN returning to cardiovascular critical care after a long time off. I feel this book will more than adequately prepare me to perform on the job.

I can't over emphasize how great this book is for a visual learner. It isn't going to expand your knowledge base if you already understand hemodynamics in a functional capacity, but for visual learners it is a great tool and reference.

I highly recommend all of the Made Incredibly Visual books! These books have helped me a lot during nursing school as I am a visual learner. The information given is in a condensed form. This helped me focused on what was important and would likely be on nursing class exams. I did skim through my 1,500 plus page med-surg book, but the Made Incredibly Visual books helped narrowing down high volume testable items which allowed me to save time. This book did arrive on time. Need more time in nursing school....then buy this book.

A very honest account by the Nigerian author Noo Saro-Wiwa, living in London, who travels around very different parts of her native country. In doing so, she is faced with a variety of every day problems with which the vast majority of Nigerians have to cope with. But no matter how difficult the life in Nigeria is, the author still finds love for many things about Nigeria: "the dances, the masks, the music, the baobab trees and the drill monkeys".

Noo Sara-Wiwa's travelogue around Nigeria is a very personal one. She grew up in the UK and had not visited the country as an adult. She also acknowledges her love-hate relationship with the country given the execution of her father by the then military regime.I enjoyed the book a great deal since I lived in Nigeria for some years and also traveled around the country quite a bit. I enjoyed her observations on everyday life and the Nigerian psyche. I also appreciated learning about some of the rather obscure places she visited along the way.I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in Nigeria, lives there, lived there, loves the place and has hopes for its redemption!

The author's lifelong uneasy relationship with her birth country animates this book. Saro-Wiwa has a lively voice and is happy to make fun of herself along the road. Having just lived for three years in Nigeria, I recognized not just the places and the people, but the crazy optimistic spirit of the country. Saro-Wiwa does not sidestep the tough issues entirely, but I do think that since her visit, the political and social tensions in Nigeria have increased markedly. As a result, readers very familiar with the country may find the picture a bit sweeter than current realities.

I enjoyed reading this book because, while (as expected) it tells about the various parts of Nigeria, it does it from the viewpoint of a writer who is from a Nigerian family and spent time there annually as a child. Her encounters are certainly the real Nigeria, and the details of the culture, the people, the history that she gives are intriguing. What impression will her re-acquaintance with her "home" country leave her with? Well-written.

This book is part of a two part series but should be combined. Both books provide very thin content. The author throws in several plugs for his accounting firm throughout and the material is written from that standpoint.

My wife and I got the chance to read this book at the perfect time, and we're so glad we did! We are 2 months from closing on our own dental practice. We have so many questions about what to do and when, and Brian's book "How to Buy a Dental Practice- Volume 1" and this new book ("Volume 2") have both been extremely helpful! The first volume is definitely a must-have and deals a lot with finding and getting ready to buy a practice. This volume continues where the other left off and explains what to do right before and after you buy a practice.This book covers topics such as: how to be a good boss, leader, and communicator; how or when to make (or not make) changes in the practice; what needs to be in place to make sure you'll have cash flow from day one; and all sorts of considerations needed to make things run smoothly right off the bat. This book is very well written and gives a great guide on steps once you've found a practice. It contains items that can be overlooked during the process due to the overwhelming nature of buying a dental practice. I worked directly with Brian as well for buying in to a practice, and he was super helpful in all aspects of buying a practice as well as made himself available for any questions. Highly recommend both of his books as well as his expertise in accounting.

Let me start by saying this was a good book. A great mystery with lots of twists. What I had a problem with was the way the book was laid out. I had read the first in the series, Dying Breath, and noticed that there were choppy transitions from one scene to another. It was much worse in Dead Before Dark. You are reading about Lucinda, and the very next line you're switched to a scene with maybe the killer, or Randy without a break in the narrative. It made dialogue hard to follow, and the quick change had me going back a paragraph to try to figure out what was going on. An extra line or two between transitions would have made the story easier to follow. As it was, it made the story feel frantic. Unfortunately, though the author's other books sound intriguing, I'll not be buying any. I read to be entertained, not confused.

I enjoyed the previous book, Dying Breath, and eagerly looked forward to the continuation of the story, but found Dead Before Dark to be disappointing.Early in the book the killer leaves a cleverly hidden clue at the first crime scene. The author must have forgotten about it because it was never found or mentioned again. After waiting for it to be discovered for hundreds of pages, and wondering what new twist would be introduced, that was a letdown.There are some inconsistencies in the book, but the one I found the most disturbing was when Lucinda sees a key detail during a vision, and even has a conversation about it later. But even later when someone tells her about it, this was suddenly new information to her.When the first numbers clue appeared, I immediately knew what they represented, and found the length of time it took them to figure it out very frustrating.There were too many simultaneous stories. Although I liked having the Hastings family around, they really didn't serve much purpose. After a while it became annoying whenever the story would switch back to them. They didn't contribute much and there wasn't anything exciting going on with them. The Ava connection wore thin pretty quickly.I waited with eager anticipation for the killer's identity to be revealed. There weren't too many potential candidates to choose from, but it kept me guessing as to why it could be this one and not that one. In the end, it was a big disappointment.The "romance" was danced around throughout the book but never really got off the ground.The book was too long and drawn out. Then after nearly 500 pages, it ended pretty abruptly. Things weren't wrapped up nicely with a pretty bow. Some things were left hanging, others weren't mentioned again. Possibly for a third installment? Even what did get wrapped up was done hastily and left me feeling unsatisfied and disappointed. It reminded me of the way Mary Higgins Clark ends her books, and it's the reason I don't read them anymore.

To fully appreciate this story, you must read the 1st book. With that said, this book was ABSOLUTELY SPELLBINDING, COULD NOT / WOULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!!....twist and turns left and right. Just when u think you've got it figured out, another twist and you find out ur wrong.Recommend this read to anyone / anyone who likes mystery and suspense.I loved that I was able to follow all of the different characters and enjoy it at the same time. That doesn't happen to often with most stories with extended characters, normally u get lost with who did what and where and how but Wendy has managed to keep all characters in the storyline, making sense and doesn't lose the effect or intensity of the story.

I really enjoyed reading this book andlook forward to the next book on her long list of exciting mysteries.

I decided to write because I had never read a book by this writer till now. I have read mystery for well over 20 years and I don't know why I never checked out her books. I am glad I did. I thought it was well paced I didn't skip to the back of the book to see who the killer was because I thought I had it narrowed down pretty good. I was wrong and that was great. I t takes off pretty much right away. I read it every chance I got and only put it down once because of eye strain(need new glasses) I recommend this book to anyone that reads Lisa Jackson Mary Higgins Clark or Tess Gerritson. I'm starting my next book by her right away.

This is the fourth book I have read by Wendy Corsi Straub, I thoroughly enjoyed it and have read it over two days, I could not put it down until I reached the end. I am so taken with this author I have downloaded or bought the hard copies of all her books in the last week. I have become a huge fan of Ms Straub she reminds me of Mary Higgins Clark's earlier books when she WAS a page turning Author.

I'm such a fan of this author because she more often than not gives us such a surprise ending. I love the suspense. This book was good but certainly not her best. The suspense just wasn't there. I think this is a bout the tenth book of hers I've read and will continue until I've read them all.

The suspense, the characters, the story, all top notch. Wendi Corsica Staub is a genius! I can't wait for her next book!!!
