Honestly, I think it it been than Rosetta Stone. My boyfriend is Japanese and I bought to pick put phrases to surprise him. Now I am having conversations. I have gotten to the point where I can watch movies with no subtitles. Everything is broken down, and repeated 2 or 3 times, the 3rd is when you actually bring everything together. You can follow along with the audio as you read the book, than just listen to the audio and practice the phrases. than go one line to play games and than use the the books answer questions. You even practice how to write the symbols, read short stories. I really recommend this language program.

I purchased this set for my Japanese class. It is so easy to understand and learn the language for people like me (who has no clue about this language). But I am not sure that I can learn everything by myself though. I think it's a good to use this book as a textbook in class.

Well written and easy to follow. It is less overwhelming than other books. It approaches the language with the intent of getting you speaking as soon as possible, while putting grammar into the lessons. The CDs are also really helpful.

the problem with it is the written part, it doesn't show how to pronounce the English alphabeted words of it such as the vowels, how can I learn how to speak the language especially without knowing the pronunciation of the vowels?

Pretty decent but you can tell in the work books that they rushed editing. Some of the character stroke order examples are missing strokes.

I bought this for a friend who wants to learn Japanese. The reason I went with Living Language is because I have bought and used their product for Mandarin Chinese - it is by far the best learning Chinese software I have EVER found. FANTASTIC - starts out with words, then phrases, then sentences, etc. Not overwhelming at all, and VERY helpful. My Chinese even came with a dictionary that I use often. Totally worth it, Living Language does an exceptional job!

I brought this for my daughter who is learning Japanese, this has made it a lot easier for her, she loves it so much, therefore I do as well :)

I want another book, a companion piece... I love this book if only to look at the pictures: A fun mix of formal magazine print and informal paparazzi pictures. It's great to see the contrast in personal and professional and how they have influence one another.Such an inspiration, I keep it on a table near the closet for fashion ideas.I hope a sequel will be released as a companion, with Kate Moss' wedding soon to arrive! Sure to be beautiful.

when i received my book i realized that it was missing pages. I am very unsatisfied with my purchase the description did not say missing pages.

I enjoyed this book, it's well-written and has lots of good pictures, but I'm still trying to figure out if Kate Moss really has as much style as admirers say, or if she just looks great in everything and admirers want to think she is stylish. A lot has been said about how well she puts things together. But I think I found as many outfits in this book that I did not think were stylish as I did those that were stylish.She looks most stylish in the classics, like a yellow chiffon Marilyn Monroe-style dress or a black sweater with a black satin pencil skirt and T-strap sandals. But we all look better in the classics. When she takes chances like wearing skin-tight jeans, booties, and lots of layers on top, sometimes she looks fabulous and sometimes she looks like she tried and failed. But we'd all look fabulous part of the time and less so the rest if we had her looks. And even more so with the designer clothes she has access to. Unless we had no fashion sense at all.She has almost perfect genetics. A beautiful face with wide-spaced eyes (but not too wide), a bow mouth, great jawline, and a figure that curves in and slopes out at all the right places and in the right proportions. And somehow she keeps the weight off so her figure makes any piece of clothing drape well. She could tie a garbage bag around her waist and she'd still look good even if her outfit didn't. One thing she does well is not over-accessorizing. She's pretty understated in the jewelry department and it suits her well besides adding class. She'll wear a diamond tennis necklace here and there or dangle earrings; just enough to set off her outfit, but not too much. She's a minimalist and brought in the minimalist movement after the 80s. So a minimalist with a closet full of designer clothes probably comes off pretty stylish.So, it's a fun book if you are interested in Kate Moss. 4 stars of fun. I'm just unconvinced as of yet about it's premise.

"Beyond No Mean Soldier" by Peter McAleese (Oct. 2015), paperback, nice high-quality glossy 287 pgs; publ. by "Helion & Co. Ltd." and "GG Books UK" in England. In a note apparently from the publishers, this book is a "completely revised and expanded edition" of his 1993 classic "No Mean Soldier". This book is essentially the author's biography with many photos of himself in various military-attire settings.The author was born on 7 Sept. 1942 in Glasgow, Scotland.. At 17, the author joined a Parachute Regiment in March 1960 for a nine-year hitch. Two years later he joined the SAS (Special Air Service) and went for jungle training in Malaya, and later trained with U.S. Special Forces at Ft. Bragg, NC for HALO training. During that service he was off-and-on stationed in Aden, Cyprus, Borneo, & Guyana, and provides interesting insights into his tribulations in becoming an exceptional paratrooper.After retiring from the British Army, in 1977 the author joined the Rhodesian army, and in 1980 the South African army. The author discusses his reasons in fighting for these white-minority regimes: to oppose the communist-oriented groups interested in taking over these countries.During his African service, he recounts his military shootouts with FRELIMO, ZIPRA and ZANLA units. He provides MANY very descriptive details of his engagements, which are not for the faint-of-heart.Leaving the South African army in late 1981, the author joined a private-security firm, engaging in protective services in that country. The author provides many informative insights as to how South Africa's lifestyle changed as white-rule there transferred to a black-majority democracy.The author provides a very bull-dogged recovery story after a May 1984 a parachute jump left him with broken bones throughout his body -- it took several years for him to recover well.The author provides a very informative look at a private-security job in Columbia to attack a drug cartel in Casa Verde in late 1988, but the mission was cancelled. Several months later, he returned Cali, Columbia to hunt down the drug king: Pablo Escobar (chapter 12). The author goes into great detail in explaining his preparations in attacking Escobar's well-guarded villa, but while flying in on the initial assault, the pilot of his helicopter flew it into a fog-drenched mountain; again, the author suffered more broken bones, and the mission had to be cancelled. The author displayed grime determination in making another long recovery to walk and work again.In 1991 the author published first book: "No Mean Soldier". A couple of years later, the author landed a job with a Russian private-security firm, where he recounts what it was like trying to avoid encroaching on Russian Mafia businesses.You have seen many biographies with wide margins and large type with much spacing between sentences. Well, in this book, there are almost 500 words on EVERY page!A most impressive read; I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in military adventure -- especially the harrowing life of a "soldier of fortune" as was the author's.

A really enjoyable read! Unpretentious in the writing style and, I would guess, reflective of the author himself - a straight shooter, no BS. Also a good romp through the history of his times, from the perspective of someone at the. coal face. One has to admire Peter McAleese as a good hard soldier (as he was described on his Rhodesian SAS selection report) and a man of principles. A recommended read.

Lucidly related tale of a life lived to the max. Not enough men of this caliber today. Always on the side of the angels, his exploits are astounding. Recommended to anyone with an interest in military matters.

A man who followed his heart and went where it took him, wrong turns, yes, mistakes absolutely. Yet always strived to be a good human being,and that is the most important of all.

A well told warriors story. Starting with his background while growing up and ending in retirement this is a fascinating life story. Also a first hand account of the various theaters the author served in. Well worth a read.

As a fellow ( and much younger) ex 1 and 2 Parachute Battalion, 44 Parachute Brigade paratrooper, I can only look up too and admire Sergeant Major McAleese military journey. One tough SOB that any paratrooper would want on his side in a fight ( with guns or fists). Airborne all the way Peter! Thank you for your service in South Africa.

To people of my generation, Seymour Hersh is a legend. He has been around since the Vietnam era and won a Pulitzer Prize for exposing the My Lai massacre. More recently, he exposed the abuse of detainees at the Abu Ghraib prison.Hersh claims that Pakistan helped the U.S. to kill Osama bin Laden in 2011, by looking the other way. The U.S. was tipped off to his location by a former Pakistani official in 2010 who wanted to collect the $25 million reward that was offered. The official is now living in Washington with his family. According to Hersh, bin Laden had been a prisoner of the Pakistani intelligence service (known as ISI) since 2006 and senior Pakistani military officers knew of the U.S. raid ahead of time. The U.S. threatened to terminate American aid to Pakistan unless it cooperated.Hersh claims that bin Laden was being held in an ISI compound in Abbottabad, a city of 1.4 million. Abbottabad is about 100 miles from the Afghanistan border and about 20 miles from India. According to the New York Times: "Abbottabad is basically a garrison town." The compound was located less than two miles from Pakistan’s West Point, the Kakul Military Academy, and a mile from a regional military HQ. Pakistan's state of the art radar system which had been supplied by the U.S. was switched off. This allowed two American helicopters to land undetected in Abbottabad. Bin Laden’s ISI guards were told to disappear and it was a straightforward hit. The White House created an elaborate story which Hersh claims is fantasy. However, the White House has vehemently denied Hersh’s account. U.S. officials still claim that the Pakistani government was not informed about the operation.One of the Black Hawks carrying the SEALs crash landed in bin Laden's compound and had to be abandoned. According to Hersh, the SEALs had to wait around while a replacement was found. They were able to complete their mission and returned unharmed. Hersh also claims that the Saudis bribed the Pakistani government. They were told not to inform the U.S. they had captured bin Laden and were paid in oil for their troubles. Hersh believes the Saudis did not want Americans interrogating bin Laden.Hersh has been criticized by his journalistic colleagues for his version of the raid but it seems more plausible than the official narrative. Why would a man on the run, like bin Laden, choose to occupy a 38,000 square foot house close to the Pakistani military? Saddam was hiding underground. Unless the American helicopters had stealth capability it is hard to believe that the Black Hawks could fly from Afghanistan, crash-land, and still not be detected. The SEALs were on the ground for 40 minutes, but the Pakistani Army didn’t arrive until after they had left.India and Pakistan have fought four official wars, but they also have regular border skirmishes, Security is tight in the region. I watched an interview with the Pakistani journalist Tariq Ali who claimed that the local people near the compound had been warned there would be a raid and they were advised to stay away. It has been claimed others that the local police informed the army about the gunfire. At the end of the day, bin Laden was executed and the killing was justified. It does not really matter what the Pakistanis knew. Obama at his first press conference thanked the Pakistanis for their cooperation. The story quickly changed and it is not clear why. Pakistan could have acknowledged that it had cooperated, but bin Laden was a hero to many in the country. Hersh claims this would have been a dangerous strategy. Pleading ignorance and incompetence may have been the safest option for Pakistan's leadership.

After hearing an interview with Mr. Hersh on C Span I was highly intrigued about his investigative reporting on this current administration and knew I would definitely need to read the book. The book did not disappoint! He took no sides calling out both sides of the political parties and tries to just report the facts as he uncovered them, an uncommon thing among journalists these days.He did a good job of giving the common person not deeply involved in the political process a peek at some of the deals taking place behind the scenes and how much "spin" has become the preferred method of justifying the actions taken. It gave me a better grasp of reading through reports in the media and maybe left me a bit more skeptical of the news we hear every day. So much for transparenc in the federal government. Thank you Mr. Hersh!I would definitely recommend this book.

Although some suggestions now need updating, such as Hersh's faith in General Flynn's interpretations of events, the fact remains this is a important work. Hersh, no fan of Obama's policies, digs deep to expose the consistent lies around what exactly happened to Bin Laden. How it happened is made clear. The US government continues to stick to the improbably story line the Pakistanis would allow US attack helicopters to enter its airspace without knowing, a suggestion that never had an ounce of credibility. Was Bin Laden openly murdered? Of course he was. Was he given a full Islamic funeral and burial at sea? Highly unlikely. Hersh cannot find anyone, among the 2000+ sailors on the ship, who witnessed the supposed Bin Laden burial. The book could us an updating and perhaps Hersh will get around to it. There is enough here, though, to appreciate why Obama had so much difficulty with a military that should have welcomed a change in administrations. The most significant foreign policy event of Obama's presidency still reads like a whitepaper from the Pentagon, circa 1966. The official report is full of fanciful suggestions and lies. Obama rode the event to reelection. Remember this when Democrats insist the Republicans have abused foreign policy for political gain. The pendulum swings both ways. Also, the suggestion Obama let Syria off the hook after it crossed his "red line" is explained. It was the Turks who gassed the Syrians to try to pull the US in. To Obama's credit, he resisted.

Seymour Hersh gets to the truth of the facts about the actual killing of Osama Bin Laden, and they are not the "facts" reported on the evening news. He also provides a view of the internal politics inside and outside the White House that led to the killing and the subsequent misreporting of it. Finally, he puts all of this into a political context that is very illuminating. A most valuable book!

A masterful dissection of U.S. covert ops managers and operators. The cognitive dissonance in the U.S. media's narrative on the Bin Laden raid versus Seymour Hersh's investigative work shows what poor investigative work is being done by domestic U.S. reporters which routinely come across simply as boosterism of the goverment's cover story regarding the U.S./Pakistan relationship. Hersh's account makes much more sense when he describes the real world intelligence & political machinations of the raid's background and logistics rather than the high tech stealth gadgetry and knife edge timing of Zero Dark Thirty. Its too bad that so few of his sources will go on the record when describing the dysfunctional political and military relationship between us and the Pakistanis.

While a very good read, the title of the book is somewhat misleading. The title makes it appear as if the book is entirely about Bin Laden, which it is not. In fact only 52 pages are dedicated to that topic out of 124, as the rest discuss the situation in Syria. However, it is a very interesting read and presents facts very different from the ones released in the media.

This was a pretty good book I didn’t figure out who was the culprit, but I don’t know why they are called witches?

I received a free copy of this 3-Book Bundle from the author at my request. I voluntarily chose to review. This is my honest review,These are all some of the most humorous books I have ever read! Do you like to smile, giggle, or laugh out loud? Read these books. Do you like a good mystery with some twist and turns? Read these books. Want a little magic to spice things up? Read these books.They are clean books, too! Plus, they are well-written. What's not to like? Seriously, if you like puns, plays on words, irony, silly illusions, a refreshing outlook on life, interesting characters, and a solid plot, you will enjoy these books.Each one is good as a stand alone, as each is totally wrapped up well, and none contain cliff-hangers. What? A series without cliff-hangers?! I was surprised, too! It was my delight with the first book that took me straight to the second. Repeat that same thought for the third and you come to the reason why I read three books straight through. Now, to add icing to the cake, the second book picked up immediately from where the first left off! It was the same for the third!You might have noticed I haven't given a synopsis of the plot. One, I do not like spoilers and will not write them. Two, each of these have convoluted plots. The safest thing I can say is a mom and daughter move to a new location. Before bedtime rolls around, mom finds out she is a witch. There is so much more involved in those two sentences, that to add any part to them would spoil your own reading.These are cozy mysteries that are longer than most cozies, but they read fast and were enjoyable to me; they felt like short cozies. Kudos to Angela Pepper for a delightful series! I enjoyed these first three with immense pleasure!

This is my review of the audio version as posted on Audible:Usually in a box set you like some books more than others; in this case, however, I can't tell you which one is the best - all three of the books are funny, entertaining, fast-paced and intriguing:)Zara Riddle and her daughter Zoe move to Wisteria right before Zoe's 16th birthday. What Zara doesn't know is that her family is not a normal one and that the little town of Wisteria is not your average American little settlement... When she does discover that she's not simply a witch, but a 'spirit-charmed' witch, all the fun starts:) From then on Zara has to solve mysteries, learn to control her witchy powers and deal with her own crazy emotions...All three books have intriguing plots, mixing nicely and smoothly paranormal elements with typical cozy mysteries; they are fast-paced, logical and surprising. The best part, however, is that they are not totally serious - they are quirky, slightly satirical, with a lot of funny references to pop culture (the "paranormal" pop culture, that is:)). I also like the reverse in the roles of mother and daughter - Zoe is the sensible, responsible one while Zara acts like a teenager, with her "act before you think" attitude, cheerfulness and inability to supress her emotional reactions to whatever comes her way...:) But as she is also loyal, loving, and ready to help when needed, she's a surprisingly likeable character.The secondary characters are as memorable; they are complex, with hidden sides you discover as you follow their stories, and they all have their meaningful place in the plot.The narrator, Ms Williams, is one of the best narrators I've listened to so far. She does not just read Zara's adventures for us - she IS Zara herself. Her acting skills are so good that the narrative parts sound very personal and believable. And she does voices well, without exaggerating the male ones. Definitely a narrator from the Masters' League:)Oh, and one more thing - I liked the audio box so much that I bought the Kindle version of the set, too, and I'm definitely going to read the other two books in the series. With three full novels in this bundle you get an excellent start to this series which will leave you hungry for more.I immediately fell in love with the witty, quirky and relatable main characters but was pleasantly surprised that the small town residents who I thought might just be one note caricatures were fleshed out and developed as the series progressed.Things take a turn for the supernatural and each novel is about a mystery connected to a spirit. The stories dovetail between Zara’sd daily life with her teenage daughter, estranged aunt and hunky neighbor, researching mysteries and learning about her newfound witch powers and it’s all engrossing.Each story leads into the next and the third explores more of the past, enriches the complexity of certain character relationships and starts shedding light on conspiracies. It felt like an epic conclusion to this package that leaves me wanting the next volume now.The narrator does a wonderful life breathing life into already lively characters – affecting voices and delivering witty banter so well she makes it sound easy.If you like humor, heart, paranormal mysteries, small town living or just plain fun, light reading then you’re in the right place.
