I really enjoyed browsing through this ebook. I recently have been introduced to essential oils, but never sat down and looked into the details. This ebook was incredibly helpful in laying out an introduction and then detailing each oil to the reader. It has a wonderfully balanced display of pictures and text. My favorite part of the book is towards the end where many of the popular essential oil brands are compared and contrasted for what the reader is looking for in price versus quality. I would recommend this to anyone and will be going back to it for reference!

Now this is something I have really wanted to get for awhile now! I have dabbled with making my own oils and scrubs and lotions in the past, but have not done much recently. All the books I once had are long gone due to moves and time, so I definitely needed a really good informative book!Instead of just compiling a list of recipes, it gives you recipes and MUCH more. It explains in detail what essential oils are and teaches you how to use them in aromatherapy and in topical applications for more than 100 ailments. The recipes included are: massage oils and cosmetics as well as sachets, scented bath products , candles, and nontoxic household cleaners.It also lists the 25 most common essential oils along with the conditions each oil treats.The book even includes historical information about essential oils , along with all the known benefits of them.Also notably helpful and interesting is the passage about smart shopping. As some of us know, there are many "Sub-par" brands out there, which sell essential oils that are not pure and are not high quality. This book gives helps you stay informed, and understand how to differentiate between the good and the bad out there. From the book:"What is a high-quality essential oil, and how do you know that you're buying one?"As stated in this chapter, you want a "pure" essential oil, however, "It's also possible to buy essential oils that are pure but of low quality, either because they were handled or stored improperly or because they came from inferior plants."So the question is, how do we as consumers figure out what is the real thing, and what isn't?I will show you one more excerpt from the book, but the rest you will have to read yourself to find out more!"To get an idea of whether an oil is truly pure, look on the label for the oil's botanical name, country of origin, and method of extraction. If this information is not in evidence, the oil is probably adulterated."This is great information that I was unaware of until now.I am a big fan of this book, and will be spending a lot of time whipping up recipes from within it!*This book was provided in exchange for my unbiased review*

I have mixed feelings about this book. Its very good but I feel the title was misleading and wasn't what I thought it would be. I am new to oils and just bought a diffuser. Only interested in aromatherapy right now but wanted a foundation of what else can be done with oils for future reference. Since the title says Introductory Guide to Oils and Aromatherapy, I expected much of the book to be focused on that. It did give a very good introduction and really focused on safety. It steered away from anything risky which i appreciated. The bulk of the book was about recipes for medical ailments which included many different forms, a few which were for diffusers. It also had a chapter with description of each oil, what it can be used for and other oils that they pair well with. It had a chapter on making your own home products (lotions, deodorants etc). What is missing that I specifically wanted was a chapter on just diffuser oil recipes. Ie: Relaxation - 2 drops lavender etc. I am really disappointed that it has tons of information I may or may not use later but do like to have on my reference shelf, but is missing the one thing I really wanted now, which I think most beginners would want too.

This was a good introductory book to essential oils. I like that it lists oils by type and gives common uses, botanical name and best practices. It lists essential oils by name and theres another section that lists conditions that oils or mixes of oils may be used for. I like that it shows the properties of different types of oils such as :digestive, diuretic, expectorant, immune system booster and precautions (exampleThere are a lot of suggestions or recipes for diffuser mixes which I like and have tried a few that I like a lot. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is a lot of information is taken from mlm blogs which may is ok as it is all referenced - but it seems to have contradictory information. Talks about certain oils that may cause skin irritation but then gives recipes a chapter later for applying "neat" or directly to skin. But its gives instructions for doing a skin test before you apply. I bought hard copy and kindle for reference and its worth it just for the blends.

I had heard of essential oils, but I didn't know very much about them, until I read this book. This book is perfect for someone who, like me, is interested in learning more, but doesn't know where to start. There are so many tips, tricks and recipes for using essential oils included in this book, over 300! I really liked that i learned what essential oils to use for natural healing, which is very important to me. I would recommend this book to anyone who has been wanting to learn more about essential oils and how to use them for health benefits. I received this e-book free for my honest review, all opinions are my own.

This book tells you which essential oils to stay away from, which you can use on your skin directly, the best oils to use for health issues, and gives you "recipes" for mixing oils. It highlights in yellow information such as "Don't use during pregnancy," and "May cause skin irritation." Also, which oils can be used for and around pets and which to stay away from. Very informative.

It's best to supplement this book with Getting to Yes! so you have the whole nine yards when it comes to conflict resolution. Some people said that this book is full of common sense information, but while some of it may be common sense to us, you'd be surprised by the amount of people who have no idea how to handle conflict. It's a good, affordable book that I would recommend you purchase whether you're a student or someone who just wants to learn these skills. It is VERY adaptable to situations outside work and etc. Heck, it helped solve a conflict between my friend and I!

This book is another home run in the Poppy series. There isn't much of a plot, but that doesn't matter because the real focus is the music and the cute illustrations of the animals and instruments. The musical excerpts are largely from Saint-Saens' "Carnival of the Animals," and the sound quality of the excerpts is actually quite good.The only reason I give this book four stars instead of five is that the buttons can be difficult to push, especially for small fingers. The circuit board containing the buttons that trigger the sounds is contained within the back cover of the book. Activating the sounds requires pushing the buttons, which is especially difficult to do from the first few pages of the book because you have to transmit the pressure through 8-10 pages -- not easy for 18-month-old fingers! I suspect the only other option would be to have buttons contained in each page, which would obviously make the entire book much thicker.Bottom line is that our daughter love this book and wants to read it several times a day!

The absolute best children's book about music we have found for our 2.5 yr old son who is deeply interested in music & instruments of all kinds. Completely pleasant for children & parents to listen too, and enjoy again and again. I wish they had these books for all genres of music - we would buy them all. I will give them as gifts again & again.

This book is one of my favorites to read, and one of my toddler's favorites to hear. I love the music – the book's sound quality is wonderful. The illustrations are adorable. And it really gets my kids talking about instruments and music. We love it!

This has become my favorite kids' music book. The sound quality is good, the selection of the music is excellent. My 1-year old son loves it! He likes to press the buttons. Some pieces of music made him giggle.

This is the only book I could find on Aquaponics that had solid reviews. I hadn't started my own aquaponics set-up yet, but am extremely interested in doing so. I wanted something that would help me understand all of the systems required, how to plan a build, and what to expect once it's set up. "Aquaponic Gardening" did a good job of answering all of the first round of questions I had.Next is acting and following up on forums full of others doing similar work. I can't wait.With this book at my side, I'm more than confident that I can get an aquaponic garden set up and producing food without a hitch. That is exciting.

So, I've been fascinated by Aquaponics since I heard about it. However, while Sylvia's systems do work I find that the way they work are not as ecologically sound as one might initially think. Unless, you live in the perfect climate where growing outdoors, year round is a possibility (neither too warm or too cool) and don't need any energy inputs to maintain your water temperatures at the ideal temperature (again, not too warm or too cool!) and don't need to supplement light to get your plants to grow (12+ hours of daylight year-round!)... the systems are extremely energy dependent. You *will* use tons of electricity with grow lights, pumps, etc.If you are currently growing hydroponically, this may be an improvement to what you are currently doing...but if you're accustomed to 4-season growing and hoping to get fish protein from the system in a cost-efficient, ecologically sound way... this is not it!The energy consumption and total impact on the environment is actually completely overlooked in this book. There is no estimate of the cost of the electricity used to run the pumps, lights, etc, anywhere to be found. There is no cost-analysis done.If you're looking for a new (expensive) hobby, this could be fun... if you think you're going to be able to feed your family inexpensively...please keep looking.

If you want to get involved in aquaponics, this is the book for you. As the author suggested, I read it cover to cover before I began planning my aquaponics set up and I am very glad I did. I can see lots of mistakes that I would have made that would have cost me it’s lots of wasted money and, frankly, I might have given up. But by following the instructions I was able to put together my aquaponics set up and IT WORKS!!!!!One thing I would suggest is don’t be a slave to exactly she suggests using. For example she suggests using 6 inch PVC to make a media guard, but my big box hardware stores don’t carry 6 inch PVC. Instead, I used 4 inch PVC for the media guard and scaled everything else down on the autosiphon to fit inside it and it works like a dream. The important thing is to understand how things work and what needs to happen, and that is where this book really does the job.My Norwegian seaweed extract will arrive today and that will start my cycling so I can add my fish in a couple of weeks.Buy this book if you want to know about aquaponics. It is amazing!!!

The amount of real information in this book is rather few and far between. One of the final appendices sums up nearly the entire book's actual information in a handful of pages. The filler (anecdotal caveats and such) is not bad...but ultimately defeats any chance at a useful structure. "Step-by-step" is very misleading. The formatting is almost all endless prose- very few lists, diagrams, tables. And as a whole the treatment of aquaponics is very myopic, giving barely enough small bites of info to accomplish a small consumer sized production and nothing more. Leaving out really any abstract analysis, scientific thesis or expanded potentials.Turns out, if you're really into aquaponics the author is more than happy to recommend over-priced courses in aquaponics. These courses I can only assume include what the book should have been. Oddly enough, the author herself sells some of these courses on her website. Making this whole book all that much more disappointing.I would say the book could use a re-write but I believe the author's purpose was to be intentionally cutesy and barely informative. So my final conclusion of this book puts it in-between a weak diy instructional manual and an infomercial. Pathetic.

Being retired we notice more things that we "might" be interested in doing. We have found that by purchasing books that will tell us "all about it" EG: XXXXXX for Dummies let's us know what to expect and what is expected from us. On several occasions we have not gone beyond reading the book. They are worthwhile investments. This method saves an investment which down the road just might disappoint us. Not to mention that if we go forward we have an excellent guide to help us. This book is SUPER helpful and it looks like we will be looking further into this endeavor.

Sewn binding.Most of the (88) miniatures, (22 from secular works,) are from the British Library.Well chosen. Some familiar. Sometimes more than one example is given, by an artist or from a particular manuscript, within the thematic sections, ("Venerable Depictions", "Bible Stories", "The Calendar", "Secular Works".) I see in the index that those with more than three examples are: Simon Bening's "Golf Book", 4, all under "The Calendar", the Saluces Hours, 6, and the Bedford Hours, 7.The enlarged details in the introductory section remind one to use a magnifying glass to isolate and study the different aspects of the plates that capture ones interest.The introduction concentrates on the the historical and religious context, with a little about vellum, pens, the materials and chemistry of the colours, the bindings; but I didn't see anything about the brushes used, or methods of planning and painting these wondrous works, or the conditions that allowed these miraculous illustrators to develop their artistry, nor what little might be known about their lives. Or about the histories of each of the books.But then, this is a gift book. It is not represented as being an exhaustive scholarly treatise.
