About the Author
Hanna Karlzon has an art teaching degree from Umeå University, and has run her own business as a freelance designer since 2013. She creates elaborately detailed images using India ink to detail pictures from her own imagination and draws her inspiration from the natural world that surrounds her studio in northern Sweden. Just as beautiful and original like her other books. Same clean creative drawing style. Complex and simple subjects. This is clearly a book made with love for adult colorists. Good paper, binding and hardcover as always. Coloring pencils, gel pens, posca markers (India ink) and pastels are welcome. The girls are adorable and while I’m coloring them, in my mind, they are always queens, princesses, warriors, divas… Equally delightful are the kittens, dogs, birds, mice, butterflies and bugs that inhabit these pages. I share with you some of my colorings done on my copy of the Swedish edition book. Every time Hanna launches a new book I say it’s my favorite! I may be an adult, but I find coloring to be such a great stress/anxiety reliever. When you're coloring you can let your mind go blank, and forget about everything. I've been coloring in adult coloring books for a few years now, and I have come across some really amazing books. However, Hanna Karlzon is 100% the best. No one is even close when it comes to how well she puts together an adult coloring book. I own all of her coloring books, I believe there are five, and then a couple little postcard type books as well. I love her coloring books so much that I put this one on preorder 6 months before it was even published and shipped to me. If you are looking for a new coloring book, than you should definitely be looking at hers. I just got this book a couple of weeks ago, so I haven't really done a lot of pictures, but that is slowly changing!I'm attaching two of the pages I've colored in this book so far. One that is done, and the other is almost finished. I am in no way trying to show the world that I am a great colorer...haha....I'm definitely NOT artistic; I just like to color. :)
If the images were only printed on one side this would be 5 stars. However as they are printed on both even with the thick high quality paper, you may get issues with color transferring to pages that lay together or if you use gel pins with bleed through on reverse image. There are a few images that go across both pages to be complete and because it is bound it is a bit difficult to color where the pages meet at the binding.a fThe images are wonderful and unique. While I personally prefer smaller scale, more complex images, these are without question a blast to color. There are quite a few "people" in the images so if you don't care to color real people you may not care for this one. There are also a few birds, cats and dogs as well as other animals.
I anxiously awaited the release of this book as I have all the other Hanna Karlzon's books and love them.. I guess I was expecting pics of jewelry boxes, jewelry and related items. Unfortunately, the pics of these items are limited and the majority of the pics are very similar to her other books, with flowers, animals, girls, etc. It's still a beautiful book, with quality pages and binding but I was hoping for jewelry related pics!
This is one of the best coloring books I have purchase. Why? Because one the paper is great it can hold up to any coloring median. This is a two page ( Both sides have pictures on it). So I tested out markers and to my surprise it did not bleed through ( plus I found out I don't like markers in coloring books). All brands of pencils will work well and gel pens. The drawing of the women faces are beautiful. And the other details like animals ,fragrance bottles and flowers etc. are done with lots of details. So I'm taking my time because this is a special book that needs attention to what colors you will choose and what accents you will bring out using gel pens. I really like this coloring book.
I love the book, but I am starting to regret my purchase only because it seems to be the same pages over and over.
I LOVE LOVE Hanna Karlzon color books. Hers with a couple of other artists that use the heavy paper & hardcover that helps protect your artwork are the very best for your money. I’ve done art all my life & I’m SO addicted to coloring. My hope is that my grans will like flipping through my books and enjoy seeing what their Neenee colored. I love the house drawings & added one I just started.
I love the designs. The pages are sufficiently thick that I can use markers (staedtler) without the ink bleeding through to the other side. I also like that the pages are small enough to complete in one or two sittings but still intricate enough to be fun.
