Everyone, not only parents, need to know the downside of vaccines. Especially the huge number now given to children by the time they start school. I am happy I grew up when we got the childhood diseases and have permanent immunity as a result.

I purchased this book while I was writing a research paper on childhood vaccines. This book was very informative and easy to understand. Sometimes books like these can be full of hard to understand medical terminology, but I found it very easy to follow along. I learned a lot from it for my paper and would recommend it to anyone who has questions regarding vaccinations for their children.

Such a great book. Awesome to refer back to time and time again.

I really like this book because it shares info for both the vaccines and reactions, its not just against vaccines!

About the Author

Andrew Dewar was born in Toronto, Ontario and graduated from Ryerson Polytechnic Institute (B.A. Journalism) and University of Toronto (M.A. Japanese Studies, Library and Information Science) before moving to Japan in 1988. After completing his doctoral studies in library science at Keio University, he joined the faculty of a junior college in Japan. Soon after arriving in Japan he rediscovered his childhood love of designing and flying paper airplanes. His passion for paper airplanes led him to become president of the Fukushima Paper Airplane Club. Dewar has published over 30 paper crafting books and kits. He also teaches paper airplane workshops and does seminars at schools, libraries, community centers and museums. He lived and taught library science in Fukushima, Japan, until the giant earthquake and nuclear accident in March 2011, when the city became unsafe. After a brief stay in Canada, he's returned with his family to Gifu, Japan.Kostya Vints was born and raised in Minsk, Belarus. In 1995, he received his Master degree in Product Design at Belorussian Polytechnic Academy (Minsk, Belarus). After moving to Los Angeles in 1997, he continued to pursue his career as a graphic artist and in 2002 Kostya graduated from Westwood College of Technology with an Associate degree in Graphic Design and Multimedia. He has been creating digital art for over 13 years. Kostya has produced illustrations and conceptual art for a diverse array of companies and publications worldwide.

I have tried one other paper airplane book and was very unhappy with it. The planes were made of flimsy material, sometimes I had to use tape or paper clips to assemble them. This book had paper that folded nicely, only one piece of paper needed, and the plane flew really well with either a gentle toss or a strong throw/--no paper clips or tape needed.

This is a family book imo. It got the 32 year old excited as much as it did the kid. Includes good sized perforated papers in the back of the book as well.

My granddaughter is loving this. Though the fold lines are not quite bold enough for her 6 year old folding, she is really enjoying it.

The nephew I purchased it for had a great time with the book and the planes for a while, although some of the planes were more advanced for him.

Very difficult to use. Did not work.

This is NOT a book for a ten your old. With no clear lines to follow for folding, PLUS very complicated folding instructions, would just be an exercise in frustration. This was to be a Christmas present and now have to figure something else out. So disappointed.

Great book! Grandson will be very excited on his Birthday.

A great choice for kids in winter for those days when it's too cold or windy or wet to go out and play. A little science in why should it fly and a lot of fun flying.

The "Best Karate" series by Masatoshi Nakayama are nothing short of fantastic for those who desire to advance in Shotokan Karate. This volume deals with how to perform the Black Belt katas of Jutte, Hangetsu and Empi. These kata are required to be promoted to ranks higher than Shodan (1st degree black belt) level. Really good book. I'm white but my wife is Puerto Rican and i want our son to know both cultures so whenever i find a book that will teach him something or is about Puerto Rico i tend to get it for him.. this book is really well written and my son really enjoyed the story as well.

I must admit that I was curious to see how the myth was portrayed. Would it be the kind of story that would. need an explanation before reading it to a child. I loved that it was written in such a way that it could be read as a bedtime story as well as individually. The illustrations were colorful as is the island. I would recommend this book to those of Puerto Rican heritage and those that are not

This book is part of the selected books for the curricular maps in the Puerto Rico Department of Education. As an English teacher, I had to buy it, since they do not provide the books. I read it to my second grade class and they loved it. Personally, I like it a lot too because of its great plot and illustrations. I recommend this great book as a great addition to any ESL library, to enrich its collection of Puertorrican stories.

The art is beautiful and I thought it was a sweet store to read the little ones.

The dean of nonfiction comics tells the story of a guy who is just becoming tolerable at the end of the book, when he snares a job developing a show for VH1 and gets all smile-button. Michael Malice has his excuses: insensitive, officious parents; dumb schoolmates; dim-bulb teachers; clueless fellow coeds; lying college advisors and professors--in fact, liars all around. But he is a jerk who boasts about his flair for verbal cruelty, gloatingly recalls every time he was right but suppressed (by his lights), and cuts no slack for anybody else's attempted diplomacy, fears, and mediocrity (they're all liars, you see). On the other hand, he is honest, scrupulous, and smart. Pekar nails his most salient qualities in the title, though. For Malice, it's all me, me, me, and I'm better than everyone else. This should have been titled "Loser" to go with Pekar's autobiographical "Quitter." One wonders why Pekar was interested in the project, perhaps seeing it paralleling his own story. Not! Anyway, while the artwork is well done and there are good moments, this is way too repetitious. Yes, we've all suffered from those who plague MM's life. Yes, we all know someone like him whose delusions of grandeur are pitiable and yet funny. But the details of his many triumphs over co-workers and bosses, parents and teachers, are, well, too detailed. One gets bored. And the ending--of course, he will succeed in his generation's world, Media Universe. A novel (Ayn Rand, how dated though), a song, a band, a video, etc. etc. I have just visited MM's latest website (after the one mentioned in the book). In it he explores Our Universe and runs back to his own to comment on us. Yee-ha. Pekar's great talents are somewhat wasted here. I recommend this because one wants to read anything Pekar has written. That's the best I can say.

Harvey Pekar captures a character so disturbing I'm glad I never met the guy in person. As for Pekar himself, the man should be recognized as one of the great American writers of the 20th-21st centuries. He's real, man. I called him up one night and he was really nice to me. He could've told me to screw off, but he was polite. Harvey's got another fan for life. I just wish we could convince him that he's worthy of praise.

This is one of the most intriguing autobiographies I've ever read. Its subject, one Michael Malice, could've come straight out of an overdone piece of fiction. He's a rather talentless loser with a mile-wide mean streak. He chalks up his continuous failure in life to bad parents, stupid teachers, dogmatic professors, and idiotic bosses. Malice is smarter than everyone else--he tells us that he was a brilliant child, and defiantly demands to know why he should be modest--and obviously believes that the world neither appreciates nor deserves his genius. It's the stupidity of others, not his own blemishes, that are to blame for anything in his life that dissatisfies him.But the reality of the situation (as he rather ingenuously confesses) is that he's lazy and a cad. He's manipulative and cruel, sneaky, and duplicitous. He makes fun of a troubled classmate who kills himself. He's vindictive, fantasizing about murdering a teacher's children or wishing that the 9/11 horror had murdered some of his co-workers. He panders to influential people (such as Senator Bob Dole), lying through his teeth to suck up to them, while all the while disdaining them. Curiously, he tells us that he values his integrity above all else. Needless to say, he's working on a pretty idiosyncratic notion of integrity.Pekar's presentation of him is nothing short of brilliant. Malice obviously thinks of himself as a sort of Nietzschean ubermensch. But in telling his story to Pekar, a cumulative portrait of something far less comes through. Malice suffers from what Nietzsche called "ressentiment," a malicious envy of others that seeks self-promotion through destruction.Pekar has focused for most of his artistic career on chronicling the ordinary. In Ego & Hubris, he's achieved something rather different. He's given us a chilling account of a man who is wicked in the most banal of ways, a one-dimensional self-promoter who has little to promote--rather like Donleavy's Ginger Man, but with none of the latter's positive qualities. Gary Dumm's wooden, lifeless artwork perfectly depicts Mr. Malice.

Some of Pekar's books I have started and really wanted to continue. I find some of his work to be a treat. But the Malice story comes across to me as sort of factual, lacking emotional content. I simply could care less about the Michael Malice as portrayed in this book. I found myself reading it to see if it would get better; it didn't.Malice almost always is portrayed as having arrived, and rarely struggling. There are no surprises. No moments of doubt. No vulnerability. Malice simply sees the world in black and white, right and wrong, intelligent and stupid. Sounds like Rush Limbaugh in a way, doesn't it? But Malice is more liberal than Rush, but not much.All in all, this is a story about someone who is overbearing. The only upside of the book for me is to see how another person views the world.

A great and fun read, I am a Malice fan and it's interesting getting a little background. Also to clarify Michael is actually 4'h" tall.

Hilarious. The magnanimity and manliness of this book is matched only by the modesty of the author.

The story was good, I thought. Harvey tells it great, like all of his stories. It is funny, sad, and even inspiring, to me anyway.

Of course, then it gets into the nitty gritty and discusses the meanings behind the cards and their shadow halves as well. This book taught me a lot and now I really want to try it. I probably won't do readings for others but I would like to see what paths of possibilities are out there for myself.

Steysonâ€™s book provides background information on tarot cards and explains everything so that the reader can easily understand and learn about them successfully. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone else who wants to learn about tarot cards.

My daughter loves her own Bible!I didn't know this, but it comes with an audio CD! I can play this while she looks at the illustrations.The other great thing is that on the side margins of almost every single page, they provide extra information on things that pertain to that story. The illustrations are also very nice and very vibrant colors. When I used to read the Bible to her, she would lose interest, but with her own Bible, as I read it out loud, she understands more, she is more intrigued with the extra information and the stories aren't too long but give the information in as much detail as possible and she asks a lot of questions and gives her own input as well.Also the pictures themselves give a little bit of information as to who or what is going on in them as well. ANd just beautiful vibrant color throughout the entire book! It is definitely a must have.

We use these for class gifts when our students finish a two-year beginner Torah study. This is a Jewish Bible, so it focuses on Torah stories, not Old Testament, which are similar but different. If you are looking for Torah stories for Jewish children, not Christian Old Testament, this is for you!

The stories tie to the Bible but don't hold the attention of young kids like other stories do. Author could have done a better job separating the chapters and making the stories interesting and less dry. There aren't other alternatives that I've found for Jewish families. This gets the job done in terms of summarizing and simplifying bible stories for kids - a sort of cliff's notes for kids rather than something kids will look forward to at bedtime.

My six-year-old is unexpectedly fascinated by this book. We read it cover to cover, a few stories at a time.

Perfect rendition in short stories and simple terms easy for children to understand. Have not used the CD.

Lovely book. Got it for my five year old granddaughter. She loved it.

We discovered that comprehensive and accurate (yet edited to reach a child's level of understanding) Bible stories for Jewish children are hard to locate. We searched and found a wonderful version, beautifully illustrated, of the Torah (check it out as well on Amazon), but little more. Then a local Jewish librarian heard our plaints and showed us this book. We immediately purchased a copy for our children's library. Most of the primary bible stories are in it and some additional. They are true to the source while presented for the comprehension of a younger mind. Our children are receiving an excellent early knowledge of the Tanakh and their origins/heritage. Beautifully illustrated. Great price too!

Purchased this for my son who is considering Judaism. Perfect read for him. Though the disc that comes with it is useless. Overall worth the money.

Right after I booked my week-long vacation to Cancun, I bought the Frommer's Cancun and the Yucatan 2012. A few weeks later, the Fodor's equivalent, Fodor's Cancun and the Riviera Maya 2012 showed up in my selection of Amazon Vine books. I grabbed that one, too, because many years of travel around the world has taught me that two guidebooks often help me triangulate on the best destinations. Since you're probably trying to decide which guidebook is best for your own trip, I decided to review both books together.This can't be a deeply exhaustive analysis as I spent only a week in Mexico, with only one major excursion (to Chichen Itza, by tour bus). Plus, I kept mainly to the obvious tourist attractions (rather than independent explorations, as is far more usual for me). But I'll do what I can.Unsurprisingly, there is a lot of overlap between the two guidebooks. The Hotel Zone (aka Tourist Zone) in Cancun is just-so-big, with a finite number of restaurants worth recommending and shops to tell you about and typical excursions. Unlike guidebooks for, say, Southern California -- where one book might tell you about a cool little art museum another fails to mention -- they generally point to the same places, and give their nods of approval to the same businesses. From poking at the listings for not-as-tourist-infested areas, such as Merida, it appears that there's more of a distinction, as well as a between-the-lines personal affection for the places to see.The biggest difference between the two books is a matter of "author's voice." The Frommer's book is clearly written by an individual with personal opinions (one author per area), who imparts data as well as the reasons for a recommendation. For instance, the review of the JW Marriott, where we stayed, says, "This remains my favorite resort in Cancun, a refined oasis that offers exceptional service without pretense. They share the same weaknesses, though, in that neither gave me any sense of just how much everyone in Cancun is trying to sell you tourist excursions, or the overwhelming number of people at Chichen Itza who are lined up to sell souvenirs. I would have appreciated a section on "how to get the best deal on tours and excursions" but neither book was helpful in that regard.The Fodor's book has a few sections that do help quite a bit. For example, it includes a comparison chart for Cancun spas, including the prices of facials and body treatments, as well as the availability of couples treatments or outdoor treatments. It also has a 7-page section on tequila that describes everything from its harvest and distillation to popular brands. Frommer's has good introductory sections for each region, explaining how the streets are numbered for instance, and it also recommends websites for each area.You probably don't need more than one of these books, since so much of their information is duplicated. But it's a tough choice, since both are good guidebooks. I lean towards the Fodor's guide slightly because of the comparison charts and an effort to point out hotel disadvantages, but you won't go wrong with either of these. If you find one book cheaper than the other, that's as good a dividing line as any.

I've never found more useful info about getting around in Cancun and the Yucatan. It's not quite as comprehensive as Rick Steves' Italy or similar books, but it kept me well informed enough to get around the Yucatan pretty easily.

Our family just got back from the Riviera Maya. We stayed on Half Moon Bay, an hour south of Cancun. It isn't the most convenient spot to the rest of the attractions in the area, but we chose it specifically so we could swim with sea turtles off neighboring Akumal Beach.I found a lot of suggestions for what to do online, while other suggestions came from the owner and management company of the condo we rented. We would have missed out on a lot if we hadn't had their input.This guidebook examines both the big attractions of the area we were in -- Yal-Ku Lagoon and Akumal Beach, the ruins at Tulum and Coba, Hidden Worlds Cenote -- but also many lesser known "insider" suggestions. Both this guidebook and our condo owner suggested eating at the beautiful and little known Hotel Archeologica in Coba. (Our condo owner suggested bringing our swim suits for a dip in the hotel pool, which we did. The most relaxing hour of our entire vacation!) We also took the suggestion to visit Gran Cenote, a cave in which you can snorkel that is more for locals than the touristy and better known Rio Secreto. These sorts of suggestions are sprinkled through the book, which covers the entire Yucatan. I was disappointed that Ria Lagartos Nature Reserve (which is in the book) was so far from where we were -- I would have loved to see the flamingos there.If I had had this guidebook before we went, I would also have made sure to visit Xpu-Ha Beach, which the editors of this guidebook rave about, and Museo SubAcuatico in Puerto Aventuras, a museum with displays of items from colonial-era shipwrecks. You need some ideas for when the sun is too blazing hot to stay outdoors for one more minute. The museum would have been perfect!Though the guidebook doesn't mention this, if you want to stroll the streets of a typical (non-touristy) Mayan town in the general area of Akumal, take a drive to Chemuyil and have lunch. Look for the outdoor chicken grill and get a full chicken lunch for two to three people for $9US. Chicken, rice, bean soup, lettuce, tortillas, etc. Best chicken you'll ever taste! Walk around the corner to the fruit and vegetable stand and ask the owner for a mango de florentine. She puts the mango on a stick and cuts it into a floral shape. It's these small things that make a vacation unforgettable!

Like most Frommer's guidebooks, this one for Cancun and the Yucatan is an amazing resource, particularly for the casual tourist. Due to its scope, that is the entire Yucatan peninsula and the tourist megacenter of Cancun, you shouldn't a great deal of detailed information or a lot of information on the area nor lots of specifics regarding less popular areas and attractions. There were several locations that got short shrift.However, if you are, like most, a casual character to the main tourist areas and attractions, this book will be perfect for you. The maps and pictures are excellent, and there are lots of reviews of hotels, restaurants, and attractions in the area. There is also a lot of advice on such things as transportation, safety and savings. If you're headed to the Yucatan/Cancun area on vacation, I recommend this book.
